OMG Education Independent School is a creative, trauma‑informed independent school for young people in Years 7–13 who have found mainstream education difficult, including those with SEND, SEMH needs or a history of exclusion. We are a unique provision that exists to help students “every young life matters” move from crisis or disconnection back into learning, stability and hope for the future.

At OMG, independence really matters: we are not tied to any religious, political or government body, which gives us the freedom to design an environment, curriculum and timetable around what our students actually need, not just what a system expects. Admission is open throughout the year for pupils referred by schools and local authorities across London, from Key Stage 3 up to Sixth Form, and we work closely with families, communities and external professionals to put the right support in place from day one.

The school specialises in providing a calm, nurturing setting for learners who often arrive with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), social, emotional and mental health needs, anxiety, or negative experiences of school. Small class sizes, predictable routines and strong relationships underpin everything we do, so that students feel safe enough to take risks in their learning, rebuild trust with adults and peers, and begin to see themselves differently. Our staff team prioritise each student’s intellectual, emotional and social growth, taking time to understand their interests, strengths and barriers, and then tailoring support accordingly.

Our curriculum is deliberately engaging and practical while remaining academically rigorous. Alongside core GCSE subjects such as English and maths, we offer vocational and creative pathways including Music Technology and Physical Education, using music and creativity as a hook to re‑engage students who may have switched off in traditional classrooms. Learners are encouraged to explore the world of music creation, develop technical skills in composing, recording and editing, and experience hands‑on learning that connects directly to real‑world opportunities. This blend of academic and vocational routes helps students see the relevance of their studies and opens up pathways into further education, apprenticeships and employment.

Flexible pathways are a core part of our offer. We provide full‑time, part‑time and blended learning options so that education can fit around each young person’s circumstances, health and readiness to learn, rather than forcing them into a single model. For some, this might mean gradually increasing days on site; for others, a mix of in‑person and supported learning. Whatever the route, our aim is consistent: to help students reach their academic potential while building the skills and resilience they need for life beyond school.

Holistic development is as important to us as exam results. Every day begins with wellbeing and personal and social development, and our wider curriculum deliberately focuses on communication, teamwork, self‑management and emotional literacy so that students can manage challenges inside and outside the classroom. We recognise that many of our learners have experienced significant adversity, so we take a trauma‑informed approach that emphasises safety, consistency, respect and genuine care. Safeguarding and student voice run through all aspects of school life; we want every young person to feel heard, involved in decisions and confident that adults will respond when they speak up.

As an Ofsted‑registered independent school based at 85 Commercial Street in Tower Hamlets, we serve students from across London, with a particular focus on those who face multiple layers of disadvantage. We recognise that factors such as poverty, housing, family pressures and discrimination all affect how a young person engages at school, so we work closely with families, local authorities and partner organisations to build a wrap‑around support network.
